Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Dr. Richard M. Mirra is co-owner of South Shore Oral Surgery Associates in Rockville Centre, NY. He was born in Queens, NY and was raised in Hicksville, NY. He received a B.A. from Hofstra University in 1996, graduating magna cum laude. Dr Mirra then attended New York University College of Dentistry, where he received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2001 and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), the national dental honor society. In 2002, Dr. Mirra completed a General Practice Residency at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, NY. Following completion of a rigorous 4-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency program at Nassau University Medical Center in 2006, Dr. Mirra practiced in both the Capital Region of New York and in northern Massachusetts. In 2008 Dr. Mirra proudly joined South Shore Oral Surgery where he practices the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Mirra has a passion for all aspects of implant surgery, including expertise in ridge splitting, cortical block onlay grafting, sinus augmentation and site reconstruction.
Dr Mirra is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and is also a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association and Nassau County Dental Association. He is an attending surgeon at South Nassau University Hospital and Nassau University Medical Center where he participates in the education of Oral Surgery Residents. Dr. Mirra has been involved in several dental volunteer organizations; most notably the “Healing the Children” organization where he performed cleft lip and palate reconstructive surgery in Colombia, South America.
Dr. Mirra lives in Merrick, NY and is married to Noelle and has two wonderful children, Abigail and Jonathan. He enjoys fishing, exercising, traveling and spending time with his family.
